Free Grumpy-Sunshine Romances & Urban Fantasy ARCs, Adventures in art and therapy, and more!

I'd already announced that I have review copies of my fantasy romance, To Tempt a Sorcerer over on Book Sirens, but I thought some of you might be interested in two of the ARC bundles they have with a bunch of other fun books organized by tropes and subgenre, something I LOVE about this site.

I think last month I mentioned that I reconnected with the therapist I had after my mom passed away. Anyway, I'm seeing her because my writer's block has been out of control and I have this book I very much need to write. She came up with the idea of me picking a book that inspires me and we'd read it together and discuss it. Since this is a coming-of-age horror, I picked Stephen King's IT. The strategy is working! But what's fantastic is that not only am I making progress on The Graveyard Girls, I'm also writing the next Brides of Prophecy book. Because, even though I've been delving into horror, I will NEVER stop writing paranormal romance. That book will hopefully release this summer!

Speaking of my art, I did upload my wolf scratchboard to Red Bubble so people can get prints, stickers, or mugs if they want. GO HERE IF YOU'RE INTERESTED

AUDIOBOOK UPDATE:

My goal for 2023 is to get at least one of my books in audio format. But if I want to keep my rights to my work, I'll have to hire a narrator. So I set up a Patreon account where all proceeds will go towards that goal. LIFE NEWS:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season. Christmas was fun at my house. I got JAWS PJ pants and a JAWS shirt to go with the hat and socks I already had. I LOVE that movie, lol.

I also did my first painting in over a decade. A memorial portrait of our dearly departed Phantom for Kent.

He liked it.

BUT WHAT ABOUT MY WRITING?

Although I'm happy I'm doing art again, I recently got back into therapy to get over my writing block. It's helping and I'm pleased to announce that I'm making headway on my epic coming-of-age horror novel AND on the next Brides of Prophecy book!

I hope to have a title and a teaser excerpt soon for the Brides of Prophecy book.

LIFE NEWS: We had a few family members over for Thanksgiving for the first time since before Covid. It was nice to see them and even nicer that my son had the day off so he could help us cook and clean.

Book News:

I got started on the next Brides of Prophecy book, made a little more progress on my coming-of-age horror novel, and still working on my screenplay adaptation of His Final Girl. I'm also in the beginning steps of my plans to raise funds to start getting some of my books in audio. But more on that later.

This might be the best grumpy-sunshine romance I've ever written. I had a lot of fun making teaser graphics. Like this one:

Rayven Niltsiar, my tribute to Raistlin Majere, the grumpy mage in the Dragonlance books, and my first book boyfriend, has been a character since the rough first draft of Conjuring Destiny that I started back when I was 15. So... I've been waiting 25 years to write this guy's book. I had the basics of Tiana's character in my head since I was 18 and pregnant with my son, but it wasn't until a couple years ago that I learned who were parents were. If you've read Reclaiming the Magic, you know already. If not, I won't spoil it for you.

Anyway, definitely check out To Tempt a Sorcerer! It's a lot of fun!

I'm almost done with To Tempt A Sorcerer. This story is going to be so fun!

Here's a cute snippet I wrote:

“Delgarias commanded all high sorcerers without apprentices to take one so that more high-level mages will be better prepared for the war. Surely he told you about that so you both could gloat together.”

“Well, I thank you for your sacrifice.” Zareth smirked. He’d definitely heard about Delgarias’s command. “I’d still like to meet her.”

Panic fluttered in Rayven’s gut. There was no way that the half faelin sorcerer wouldn’t sense Tiana’s luminite blood. No way he wouldn’t tell Xochitl and Kerainne Leonine. And then they’d all assume the worst of him. As people always did.

Your wanting her to increase your power isn’t exactly noble, a strange voice spoke up in his mind.

Rayven coughed. “She’s busy with her studies.”

Zareth laughed, low and sinister. “You know something interesting? For all our centuries of enmity, you’ve never directly lied to me before. You’re here because the girl found a way to sneak to Earth, aren’t you? That’s why you have all these questions about disobedient apprentices and appropriate punishments.” When Rayven remained frozen and didn’t reply, Zareth shook his head and stood. “Never mind. I can laugh at your predicament later. I need to head back to my wife before Bleeding Vengeance begins playing. I’ll meet your apprentice another time. You can’t hide her forever.”

Can’t hide her forever. The same words the Duchess of Kinsen had thrown at him, only far less teasing coming from the King.

Still, Rayven sighed in relief when Zareth vanished from his side. He wasn’t ready to let anyone know that he had a half-luminite in his care. The power he hoped to get from their arrangement was now secondary. He didn’t want to lose her.

As you can see, this isn't only a Brides of Prophecy spinoff, but there are also some Hearts of Metal connections.
