All my books are on deep discount, a note on thankfulness, and other news

It's that time of year again! Smashwords is having its end of year sale, and so all of my books are discounted by 50%!  And what's cool about Smashwords is that, like my Ko-Fi Store, the books are in a format that can be loaded onto ANY E-Reader. A Note on my Thankfulness: Things have been tough for me on multiple fronts, and I just need to express my gratitude to so many people. My car battery died right when my finances have been bad, and one of you angels bought me a new one! I'd thought I could at least make it to Xmas with my jumper box, but nope. It died on the way to the auto parts store to pick up the new one. So if not for you, dear reader, my family could have been without a car. Also, a kind reader donated to my audiobook fund. (All audiobook fund donations are set aside in a different account because I vow to only use those funds for what my kind donors are paying for.) And, as mentioned last newsletter I'm even in talks with an audio narrator who might be able to offer a payment plan. I also decided that it's past time for me to spill the beans on which books I'm getting rights back to my KoFi  page. I'll probably drop that news next Friday.  Finally, when I was feeling despondent and down about my writing, so many of you came forward with such kind words and encouragement. I LITERALLY couldn't write these books without your support!  Horror News: I'm about 70% done with my coming of age horror, The Graveyard Girls. I'm hoping to have the rough draft done early January, then have it polished up for my agent by February. I haven't dipped my toes into the traditional publishing world in over a decade, so I am nervous as hell!  Life News: I'm getting the house prepped to host a big family Christmas dinner. My grandma pays for the ingredients, and then Kent and I do the cooking and serving. It's hectic, but since the loss of my cousin earlier this year, it's important for the family to be together as much as we can. We are also NOT putting up a tree this year because our new cat, Mischief, hasn't grown out of being an absolute terror, and would decimate our tree, lol It all works out in the end since we're going lowkey on presents due to budgetary concerns. I wouldn't wish sudden house AND car repairs at the same time on anyone! Next newsletter, I'll show off my presents AND there's going to be another Stuff Your EReader event! The car repairs are more extensive this year because, aside from switching out my tires and doing the yearly oil change and air filter change, my passenger side window motor died. I finally got a new assembly ordered. Then, someone smashed my rear driver's side mirror! The replacement arrived today, and it was for the wrong side!  So I found another one, but it's on the opposite side of the country, so it's going to take FOREVER to get here. But at least I got all the broken glass out of the door. In happier news, Kent and Micah and I got 4 pounds of morels yesterday at my grandma's tree farm!

Other Book News: As many of you know, none of my books are available in audio. I REALLY want to change that. But there are several challenges I face. The first is cost. Yes, I could sign up with a royalty share program, but I've heard horror stories of too many authors having their rights tied up for a decade, so I'd really rather hire a narrator. I have a few possible ideas of raising the funds, but to do so, I will have to learn just how much is needed. Coincidentally, the first step is finding a narrator. This is where I need YOUR help, if you do listen to audiobooks. You see, I don't listen to audiobooks. Something about my attention span wanders with them. Because of that, I don't know how to identify a good narrator. So I am asking a HUGE favor to you audio-readers: Please reply to this email with some of your favorite INDIE book narrators. Not narrators for books published with the big houses because even if they aren't already contracted out to those publishers, there's no way I could afford their rates. Besides, I'd rather give a talented unknown the work. Once I get a few suggestions, I'll look up those narrators and their rates. Then comes the step of figuring out how to raise the money.  The fun part will be having some of you help me audition narrators! I also want to know which book I should first focus on getting an audio release. Unfortunately my choices are somewhat limited, but I gotta start somewhere!

What Happens When A Cover Model Turns Out To Be A Jerk?

Okay, so here's the tea. First, back in January, cover model Jimmy Thomas went on a rant that body-shamed women. It was bad. Readers threatened to boycott books that had him on the cover and cover artists volunteered discounts for authors to change said covers. I was broke and busy wrapping up Melding Souls and the new secret book, so I couldn't change mine right away.  And then in February he went on an even more insane rant saying that sex trafficking should be legal because the women and girls "wanted it." And also, something messed up about how women should always give sex to men because they NEED it because testosterone. ??? Anyway, I think this asshat is on full 'roid rage or something.  If you want to see the screenshots of his ugly rants, you can type his name in the search bar in Twitter or FB. The stuff is too ugly for me to quote. Anyway, the point is, Jimmy was purged from the cover of Pleading Rapture. Here is the new cover.

The paperback hasn't been changed yet, because that's a slightly longer process, but I hope to have that accomplished next week.... the same time that the paperback of Melding Souls will be out!  I also plan on gradually changing the other Brides of Prophecy covers. Wrenching Fate will be next.  Other news: Surprise, surprise! Kissing Vicious is still on sale for 99 cents! My publisher doesn't discount the Hearts of Metal books often and I don't know how long they'll keep it discounted, so grab it while you can.
