Being out of work is expensive, though thankfully with the house clear out done, all we got left is the garage and shop clear out, and I'm getting closer to having our temp housing functional, so I'll be able to to get my resume up to date and start job hunting in earnest soon. Plus, my sister-in-law, who's also my boss for the dayjob will be coming back from Vietnam and hopefully get us more clients so I can get more assignments.
However, I have other expenses, such as Mayhem's vet appointments and inevitable tooth extractions, which will set me back around 2500, necessary repairs on my car, paying the artist for the covers for the next two Final Couples books (He is worth every penny!) and paying my fabulous narrator for the next Scandals With Bite audiobook. So far, my first two have yet to pay for themselves, but with a third one I'm hoping that not only will there be more sell-through, but also I'll be able to make a 3-book bundle, which will make it more likely to qualify for a Chirp deal (Bookbub for Audiobooks), and if I do, I should at least earn back the cost of the first audiobook. But if that happens, I'm hoping to use that money to start getting audiobooks of the Brides of Prophecy books produced.
So even though I hate asking for things, I am linking the Go Fund Me that a friend set up for me: https://www.gofundme.com/f/hel...
I also have an Amazon wishlist that's a mix of office supplies, household stuff, and things for working on my car. I made notes according to priority: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wish...
Of course, book sales, reviews, and recommendations help me most in the long term. It's hard to be visible to readers without a lot of time and money to promote, but I do the best I can.
On a happier note, my son and I are slowly picking up the pieces and I am slowly getting the temporary house in order.
Since I had to cover the landlord's furniture with plastic, it made the beige couches even more unsightly, so I got these cute, but cheap covers. |
