I'm also going to be reading it on Story Hour in late June. ...Which will be scary for me.

Not doing much life news, except to say my favorite and only local music store that has been here for over fifty years is closing because their landlord is selling the building and they can't find a new home because even though they always have good business, rent and housing costs are stupidly overinflated. I am heartbroken to be losing them. They were out of T-shirts but gave me a magnet in case their next batch isn't big enough. I meant to get this post out sooner, but the life of the newly widowed hasn't given me much time to sit down. Go HERE to claim a review copy! Signed books inventory: I used to have a couple copies of every paperback in my online shop, but lost a ton due to water damage in the disaster. But I got a couple more copies of my summer camp slasher romance, His Final Girl, and my Game of Thrones homage, To Wed a Warrior. Get them, or any other paperbacks I have left HERE. (For those who hadn't kept up with the newsletter or my socials, a tree fell on my home a week before Christmas, destroying half the house and killing the love of my life.)

Post Disaster Update: Things are still chaotic with getting things organized in our temp housing. I'd rescued more things from the house before the loss inventory people banned us from going on the property. I just got word that they're done, so now I have to go back there and decide what gets thrown away, what I'll take with me now, and what goes into storage until April, when Kent's family comes up for his celebration of life. It's all been very hard. Speaking of, I designed a graphic for the invites to pass on to his friends and family.

Even though I like making graphics, this one was hard because I kept thinking that I'd supposed to have been making something like this for our wedding, not his funeral.  But as heartbroken and miserable I am over this, as well as scared of the future. So, so scared... I don't want to close on a depressing note. That's never been me. So, I'll talk about what's next for me for new writing. First up will be my short ghost story for Highway of Haunts. It's gonna take place in the 70s.

There are also my upcoming audio books. I should be hearing back about the release date of the audiobook version of His Final Girl any day, and my narrator is going to get started on Bite at First Sight in a couple weeks. Cover reveal for Her Haunted Heart Unabridged and Post Disaster Update

Justin T Coons knocked it out of the park again with that painting! I did the VHS cover effects.  It will go up for preorder probably next weekend. We're looking at a May release. This one will probably be the most altered from the first edition because there were some complaints that it wasn't scary enough. Although ghosts don't deliver the gore like my other demons and big bads, I can definitely up the creep factor!  In other exciting news for this series, I just got word from Fright Night Audio that the audiobook edition of His Final Girl is going into post production, so I'll have a release date soon.  AAAAAND, my former publisher of that series gave me the rights back to His Scream Queen and Her Halloween Party earl, so BOTH books can re-release in 2027!  In other audio news, Claire Glover is going to start narrating Bite At First Sight in late February, so we're probably looking at a summer release for that one as well.  POST DISASTER UPDATE:

It's been a little over a month since it happened. I am still having flashbacks to the tree falling on us. And I am missing Kent so much that it's a stabbing pain in my chest. We're planning his memorial service for April to give his out of state friends and family time to make travel arrangements, though there will be a live stream. I will design the invites and the little pamphlet thingies that people get at funerals. I will also be writing the eulogy and my son, Micah, is going to write a poem. This is the bedroom Kent and I shared for 12 years (I lived with him for half the week even before my son and I moved in fully back in 2019). That black pillow with skeletons on it was STILL in the exact spot where I'd been sleeping when the tree came down. Seeing it next to the crater that had fallen down into my son's bedroom before really made me understand why everyone from the emergency crew that came that night to the insurance assessor declared that Micah and I shouldn't have survived. I am so lucky to have my son. Kent would be so proud of all the little ways he's taking after him and helping me the way Kent would in getting through all of this.  We're in our temporary housing, but I found out that the insurance only covers a set amount of money, so we could be looking for another place in 6 months. We still don't know if the house will be rebuildable, and whether or not we'll get to move back in. I'm going to be looking for another job so we can afford it. I'm also hoping my book sales pick up. The rubble crew finally got to get started on recovering my things. I got most of my wall o'horror, a lot of my clothes, my baby blanket, and FINALLY my wallet and ID. The cats are doing better and I'll have more pics of the place when we're done unpacking. Someone got me this adorable coffin cat bed with a scratching post from my post disaster wishlist on Amazon.   Mayhem loves it. She's doing much better after the vet gave her steroid and antibiotic shots. But if her inflammation comes back, I gotta shell out another 2 grand to get the rest of her teeth pulled.
