This week I had my very first reading ever. I don't have a good voice and it was scary as hell, but also kinda fun. The story I read was my "The Waitress," inspired by Tori Amos's song of the same title and chock full of Tori Easter Eggs.

It ended up being a double creature feature because EC Dorgan read a story about unique monsters too! She also has a much better voice than me and I loved how her story was about a power couple. I LOVE power couples and think all fiction could use more.

I'm also taking part in the Free Summer Reads with Kobo Plus promo.

No AI was allowed in the promotion, but I also learned that Kobo rejected a ton of AI slop books in general. Yet another reason Kobo Plus is superior to Kindle Unlimited.

But as for the promo, this one is a lot smaller than the Yolo with Kobo ones I participate in, so you won't be as overwhelmed with too many choices. I'm going to try to be in more small promos this year and see how that goes.

Horror news:

I got my author copies of both editions of Carrie Revisited. In that edition I got to contribute an essay and my art piece that was in the limited edition, Carrie's Legacy was included.

And the awesome publishers at Watertower Hill Press sent me new copies of House of Haunts and Hospital of Haunts after mine were destroyed in the disaster. They even included Hotel of Haunts, which I wasn't a part of but am very excited to read! I'm also excited for the upcoming Highway of Haunts, which will have a story from me.

LIFE NEWS

I'm still having flashbacks of the tree crashing down on top of Kent and me. And I only now noticed that I have scars all over my legs from it.

But for less grim details, as I'm trying to find my new identity as a weird widow, I'm gravitating back to my 90s goth style, and since I lost most of my clothes in the disaster, that at least gives me an excuse to shop.

I tried on a couple tops with a skirt I got on sale at Torrid. If you want to see my dork-ass show them off, go HERE.

I'm also getting back into skincare and makeup. There is so much more out there than there was in my teens and 20s. I'm finally figuring out contour, lol.

Wrap-up

Next week, there will be a freebie AND some sales! And possibly my deviled egg recipe since the 4th is coming up. I'll also hopefully be finished with my painting, but since it's for a secret project, I won't be able to show off the whole thing. There are pics and videos showing glimpses of it on my socials, though.
